The
Akurra Adnya (Arkaroo Rock) hike in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National
Park offers one of the best examples of ancient Adnyamathanha rock art.
Join an Adnyamathanha guide on this small group tour as they walk on Country
with you, identifying flora and fauna along the track on the 3km return loop
walk.
Bask in the beautiful views and scenery along the way and upon reaching Arkaroo
Rock, your guide will interpret the paintings and take you back to the time of
creation when their Ancestors recorded events in Ochre on the walls of the
cave.
The
duration of this tour is approximately 4 hours, including a 15-minute drive
each way from Wilpena Pound Resort, and the scenic hike up to Arkaroo Rock.
This
tour involves a 3km return walk uphill on uneven ground and requires a moderate
to high level of fitness.
This is a Tag Along Tour - please meet your Yura Guide at Wilpena Pound Visitor Centre 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time with your vehicle, ready to follow them to this significant site. This site is accessed by bitumen and a short drive along a dirt track which is all-wheel drive friendly. There is a sizeable car park, picnic tables and toilet facilities at the Akurra Adnya (Arkaroo Rock) site.
All tours operate with a minimum number of 4 people, should the minimum number of guests not book for this tour, your booking will be either transferred until the next available tour or cancelled without penalty.
